If this year has taught us anything, it’s that nothing is set in stone. Over the past 12-18 months, weddings, celebrations and all manner of events have been cancelled due to the pandemic. And, now that the world is opening back up again, people are looking for a way to get those special occasions back on the calendar. The demand for event location booking is rising and it’s becoming ever-more challenging to find your dream spot. But here at Carron Marquees, we have a solution – marquee hire!
Why is venue hunting so challenging now?
The events industry has been through a lot during 2020. In fact, 71% of couples postponed their weddings due to the pandemic, putting a huge strain on their suppliers and venues. Restrictions meant that previously planned celebrations with mid-to-large guest numbers became unachievable. Cancellation rates shot through the roof and people were left wondering when the best time to reschedule would finally arrive.
As we write this blog in June 2020, there are still restrictions on how many people are allowed inside a venue for weddings and conferences. Those who had previously picked and planned their events may find that the numbers don’t add up. Large halls are no longer suited to the 30 guests they have whittled it down to. Or, the venue may not have the COVID-secure measures in place to legally accommodate their needs. Therefore, everyone is out there looking for the best venue to make sure they’re not sending out cancellation emails once again.
Consider a marquee
Enter temporary structures. While restrictions still apply for gatherings in enclosed areas, there is more freedom to those held outdoors. Marquees can be constructed without windows and walls – opening them up to the elements and making ventilation optimal for socialising. In addition, marquees can be erected on all manner of surfaces – even in your garden. This can make it considerably easier to get the dates you’re looking for and to reorganise certain events, especially if they’re based around family and friends. Marquee hire is incredibly flexible. If you need to implement social distancing measures, the modular design of many marquees can be configured to make this simple. Seating can be spaced apart, walkways widened and decorations used as markers around the space.
Marquees can be used to complement fixed buildings. Government guidelines state that the number of attendees allowed at weddings, funerals, wakes or commemorative events will be dictated by the venue itself after undertaking a risk assessment. This could mean that a split-day celebration becomes more feasible and you’re able to invite more of your loved ones along.
Here at Carron Marquees, we support clients in designing marquee events that fit their needs. If you would like to speak to one of us to discuss your needs, get in contact here today.
